Hair Transplant Puerto Vallarta: Doctor-Led FUE at Our Monterrey Clinic

Hair Transplant Mexico does not have a clinic in Puerto Vallarta. If you live in Puerto Vallarta or the surrounding area, you would travel to Dr. Antonio Aguilar’s clinic in San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey, where he performs FUE hair transplants. This page covers what the procedure costs at the Monterrey clinic, recovery, and how to book a consultation.

Some clinics also offer DHI hair transplant techniques, which use a different implantation approach. This method is minimally invasive, so it does not require large cuts.

Hair Transplant Cost at Our Monterrey Clinic

The price depends on the number of grafts needed and the size of the procedure. Smaller areas cost less, while larger sessions cost more.
In Monterrey, at Hair Transplant Mexico, pricing is typically:

  • Single area FUE Hair Transplant (crown or hairline): from $5,000 USD
  • Full FUE Hair Transplant: from $6,000 USD

The higher cost often reflects a more structured medical approach. This may include direct physician involvement, detailed planning, and consistent follow-up care. The clinic does not offer financing. Some credit cards allow interest-free monthly installments (meses sin intereses).

How Your FUE Hair Transplant Works

Medical Evaluation and Candidacy

The process starts with a medical check. A doctor reviews hair loss pattern, donor supply, and health history. This helps decide if you are a good candidate and sets realistic expectations. In some locations, patients compare the level of physician involvement during evaluation and planning.

In Monterrey, at Hair Transplant Mexico, this stage is physician-led, meaning the same doctor oversees evaluation, planning, and treatment.

Step-by-Step Hair Transplant Procedure

The procedure follows clear steps to protect grafts and guide placement. It starts with preparing the donor area and removing each follicular unit. The follicles are stored while small channels are created, and each graft is then placed. Each stage depends on the patient’s hair loss and donor availability. To see how the two techniques differ, read FUE and DHI compared.

Duration, Recovery and Results Timeline

The procedure usually takes between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the number of grafts. Small sessions may finish sooner, while larger cases can take most of the day. Healing of the scalp begins within a few days, and most patients return to daily routines within about a week. Swimming, sun exposure and exercise follow the schedule in Recovery in a Beach Climate below.

New hair growth typically starts after 3 to 4 months and continues to improve over time. Results depend on the surgical method, the patient’s biology and aftercare. Hair growth improves over time, but results vary. Long-term outcomes depend on planning, technique, and follow-up care.

Recovery in a Beach Climate

This guidance is for patients recovering from uncomplicated FUE surgery. Your surgeon’s approval is needed before you resume swimming or exercise.

Sun Exposure and Hats

  • Days 0–7: Avoid direct sunlight on the transplanted area. Stay indoors or in the shade whenever possible.
  • Days 7–14: Continue avoiding direct sun. You may wear a clean, loose-fitting hat only if your surgeon approves and it does not touch or rub the grafts.
  • Weeks 2–4: Wear a loose hat outdoors and minimize sun exposure, especially during peak sunlight hours.
  • After 4 weeks: Brief outdoor exposure may be acceptable once the scalp has healed, but continue protecting it from strong sunlight.
  • First 3 months: Avoid tanning and prolonged direct sun exposure to the transplanted scalp. Use a hat and SPF 30–50+ sunscreen once the skin has fully healed and your surgeon approves.

Do not wear tight baseball caps, helmets, or hats that create friction against healing grafts.

Swimming in the Ocean

  • Days 0–14: Do not swim in the ocean.
  • Weeks 2–4: Continue avoiding ocean swimming as a conservative precaution. Salt water, bacteria, sand, and waves can irritate healing skin.
  • After 4 weeks: You may generally resume swimming if all scabs have disappeared, the scalp is fully healed, and your surgeon approves.
  • Avoid diving, surfing, and activities that may cause direct impact to the scalp until cleared.

Swimming in Pools

  • First 4 weeks: Avoid swimming pools, including private and public pools.
  • After 4 weeks: Swimming is generally acceptable if the transplanted and donor areas have completely healed and your surgeon approves.

Chlorine can irritate healing skin, while poorly maintained pool water may contain harmful microorganisms.

Avoid hot tubs and Jacuzzis for at least 4 weeks.

Sweating and Exercise

  • Days 0–3: Rest. Avoid exercise, heavy lifting, and activities that cause sweating.
  • Days 4–7: Gentle walking is usually acceptable in a cool environment. Avoid intense sweating.
  • Days 8–14: Continue avoiding running, weightlifting, intense cardio, and strenuous exercise.
  • After 2 weeks: Patients recovering from uncomplicated FUE surgery may gradually resume moderate exercise if healing is progressing normally and their surgeon approves.
  • After 4 weeks: Most patients can return to their regular exercise routine, including intense workouts, if fully healed and cleared by their surgeon.

Special Precautions for Hot and Humid Climates

If you live near the beach or in a tropical environment:

  • Stay in air-conditioned spaces during the first week whenever possible.
  • Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
  • Keep your scalp cool without applying ice directly to the grafts.
  • Avoid deliberately working up a sweat during the first 10–14 days.
  • Do not scratch, rub, or wipe sweat directly from the transplanted area.
  • Follow the clinic’s recommended washing routine.
